A stone Tower of 67 meters built in 1348 by the Genovese in order to fortify the defense of Istanbul. It is also used to spot fires in the city from a long distance. Hezarfen Ahmet Celebi overflew the Bosphorus after jumping from the Galata Tower by using the wings produced like bird wings in 17th century.

Galata Tower is restored multiple times by Ottomans. The roof was rebuilt in 20th century. You can go up to the roof thanks to the elevators and watch the large panoramic view of Istanbul.
