Blue Mosque which is the one of the symbols of Istanbul was built between 1609-1616 in the period of Sultan Ahmet. by the architect Mehmet Aga. It was the only mosque that was built with 6 minarets for a long while. It is famous with its glazed tiles which are used as for decoration. Since the tiles are mostly blue the Mosque is called as "Blue Mosque".

Blue Mosque is located in a complex with a grand bazaar, a Turkish bath, a cookhouse, a hospital, Schools, a caravansary and the tomb of Sultan Ahmet. The painting, glazed tiles and stained glasses create an impressive atmosphere in the entrance doors. There are over 20 000 Iznik tiles in the interior side of the mosque. Thanks to 260 windows , the dome is illuminated .
